GARNET

Derived from the Latin word “granatum” meaning pomegranate seed,
Garnets have been celebrated in legend and folklore for as long as we can remember.
The old deposits of now Czech Republic used to supply the Nobles of Europe with the finest
Wine Red Gems and up until the 19th Century, that was all we knew of the colour range.

Nowadays we also have wonderful Green Tsavorite and Mint Garnets from Tanzania,
Yellow Garnets from Mali, Malaya peach/pink Garnets from Tanzania and Madagascar,
and Spessartite Garnets from Nigeria. A very colourful and beautiful palette for a wonderful
Gem with excellent durability and hardness.
